CLOSED: Blue Ginger

Molly Abraham: Several restaurants have come and gone in this space in the shopping strip on the southwest corner of Maple Road and Orchard Lake Road, but this one seems to have a good chance of making it because it is just enough different from other Asian restaurants to give it its own personality. The cuisine is pan-Asian - Malaysian and Vietnamese, with a Japanese sushi bar tossed into the mix, and it is handsomely done up with soft lights, a curtain of bamboo overhead and a tropical fish tank. The fare includes such Malaysian appetizers as chicken satay, grilled fish ball and squid with Chinese watercress, and soups such as house special dumpling soup and a number of seafood and noodle main dishes. Vietnamese choices include the traditional rice noodle and beef soups, spring rolls, and noodle and rice dishes.
