Molly Abraham, Detroit News Restaurant Critic: Wood-smoked meats and wood-fired pizzas are the dual theme at Clarkston's newest eatery, a remake of the previous Clarkston Cafe in a circa-1928 red brick building. Proprietor Curt Catallo retained the talented young chef, Aaron Cozadd, who is showing he can handle pulled pork and collard greens just as adeptly as he prepared coq au vin in the previous concept.

Union Woodshop
I ate at the Woodshop shortly after it opened, and must say it is one of the best restaurants in Southeast Michigan. Started out with fried pickles, which I was skeptical about trying....they were incredible! Then went to the buffalo wing appetizers, which were smoked to perfection....I was only beginning my meal and already felt like I was in Utopia. Had the combo BBQ platter with ribs, brisket and chicken.....some of the best smoked meats I have ever had. Side dishes included sweet potatos, mac-n-cheese (as made famouse by the Union) and a wonderful potato salad. Topped dinner off with a deep fried twinkie. Everything was incredible....a new favorite for me. I live 40 miles away, but it is so good,, I will make the trip there on monthly basis!!
