YWCA Camp Cavell at a Glance!
YWCA Camp Cavell is a three season camp which has served girls, women, and their families in the Metropolitan Detroit Community for over 90 years! We are located in Lexington, Michigan on 1800 feet of Beautiful Lake Huron shoreline.
Our YWCA programs include Fun Family Weekends, Woman’s Enrichment Weekends, Woman's Adventure Trips, Childrens Summer Camp, and Summer Day Camp. Activities include: waterfront, crafts, archery, horseback riding, kayaking, backpacking trips, wood shop, technical tree climbing, and lots more!
We also work with schools to create MEAP compliant programs that address environmental education, conflict resolution, communication, and team building. Other not-for-profit organizations who utilize our programming include the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Detroit Police Explorer Program, Latino Family Services, American Heart Stroke Survivors, Girl Scouts, ARC (Mentally Disabled Adults), Interim House (our family shelter) among others.
Each year we serve over 3000 people in our community! We work with a unique mix of children and adults from very different economic and social backgrounds. Many of the campers we serve have a disability, or are "at risk" in some way. We feel strongly that camp is a special place like no other and should be available to everyone.
It is a safe place where people can learn about one another, themselves, and their environment as they try new experiences and grow together. We would love to have you join us!
Please contact us if you have questions,
suggestions, or would like to help!
