The Essence of Woman (Nude Figure - Studio Lighting Techniques) W-926-B

Course # 926 Instructor: Bryce Denison This one-day studio workshop is well suited for the photographer shooting B&W film but the lighting is also compatible for color images as well. The first hour of the day is spent reviewing a slide lecture tracing the history of the figure in painting, sculpture and most especially – photography. The rest of the morning session deals with lighting demonstrations to embellish the form, the contours and lines that are the essence of woman. This workshop will emphasize previsualization, abstract design, and the interplay of texture, geometric line, shape, and composition. Models pose with and without props. Students are encouraged to direct the models in various settings and poses. Learn to "see" in ways they may not have experimented previously. Tungsten balanced films are recommended as we will use artificial hot lights. The afternoon session will include demonstrations on rim lighting, movement and blur and finally, projecting images upon the model's body. Learn how to pose the figure model plus the how's & why's to place the lights to get the effects you desire. You will need at least one roll of tungsten color film. Bring your camera and lots of film! 10-5:00 PM . Enrollment is limited, as we adhere to a not more than a 8 to 1 student to instructor ratio. 35mm, medium format or digital cameras are welcome.
