Sweet Georgia Brown opened in the spring of 2002 as the first restaurant of its kind to premiere in Detroit’s popular Greektown district. Offering upscale dining, superior service and classic American cuisine with an international flair, Sweet Georgia Brown is a stylish and welcome addition to the metro area’s dining scene. The setting is one of sophisticated jazz, elegant decor and comfortable seating. It was recently taken over by new owners, Derrick Coleman and Kevin Ransom, who put chef Jake Abraham in charge of the kitchen. His newly introduced menu includes such dishes as pecan-crusted lamb chops, lobster and scallop linguine, tournedos of beff and char-grilled bone-in stip steak, all completely garnished with appropriate trimmings.

Restaurants may not have a cat's nine lives, but they often have more than one. They start out with high expectations, then often settle into a lull. If they're lucky, a spark is provided when a new owner or a new chef takes over. (Full review)
