Molly Abraham, Detroit News Restaurant Critic: Moviegoers need only cross the street from the Maple Art Theatre to find this cozy tavern where the clubby atmosphere has a nighttime feeling any time of day. The menu ranges far and wide, perhaps too much so, but you may count on such house specialties as broiled Lake Superior whitefish with duchess potatoes, New York strip steak and the array of burgers which includes an option to create your own. But why bother when you may order one of the even dozen varieties from the California burger with grilled pineapple and guacamole to the triple-decker with cheese, onions, pickle and special dressing known as the Nostalgia Burger. Although this restaurant has a slightly commercial aura, it is family-run by Gary Cochran and his family.
